In South African the television and video system is PAL. Should you buy a new TV before moving to South Africa, make sure it is a Multi PAL system.

   

Government-owned television stations SABC 1, 2, 3, and eTV (a privately funded, yet free channel) comprise the four basic channels offered and are immediately accessible upon purchase of a TV. DStv  is a satellite service that offers a broad cross-section of English content and an extensive array of sports channels as well as the likes of Sky News, CNN International, National Geographic Channel, The History Channel, and Cartoon Network,  more than fifty channels in all.
