Public Transport

Public transport in Cape Town is not well established and most importantly not safe. It mainly consists of metro trains and minibus taxis (so called shared or black taxis). The best way to go around is to use your own car.

Driving in Cape Town'

South African drivers certainly have a style of their own. Check back soon to read our write up about driving in Cape Town, and in the meantime - do not miss our section on safety and security on the roads

Private Taxis

Using one of numerous private taxi services is safe and not expensive. Note that when you order a taxi, dispatchers normally do not ask for your number and the indication of how long it will take for the taxi to get to you is magically always 15 minutes. In real life they can be late, thus take this into account when booking.
